Welcome to Hope Church

Hope Church is a dynamic, spirited, progressive, inclusive Christian faith community that strives to live deeply into God's peace and justice, and reaches out to Boston and the world with "open minds, open hands, and open hearts."

Here are our words of welcome that begin every worship service:

Welcome to Hope Church! Welcome to all who have no church home, need strength, want to follow Christ, have doubts, or do not believe.

Welcome to new visitors and to old friends. Welcome to grandparents, to mothers, fathers, and single people. Welcome to people of all colors, cultures, abilities, and sexual orientations, to old and young, to believers and questioners - and welcome to questioning believers.

Welcome to everyone! Tonight we are all invited to live into God's love, peace, and justice.

 

Hope Church is part of the United Church of Christ and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Our interim pastor is the Rev. Wendy Miller Olapade.

Sunday evening worship, 5:30 p.m.

Advent Meditation and Prayer Group

Tuesday 12/2, 6:00-6:45 p.m. in the church office, come for a time of quiet centering prayer, reflection on Advent themes, and meditative chant.

Beloved Community study group

Tuesdays 12/2 and 12/16, 7 to 8 p.m. in the church office, join a study group on "Buillding a Beloved Community..." at Hope. The bulletin has more details.

Dec. 7: First Sunday Supper

We have potluck suppers before church every first Sunday of the month. Join us at 4 p.m. on Sunday 12/7. Bring some food to share if you can. It's a good day to invite a friend to church too.

Nominations for Dec. 7 election

The Nominating Committee has made its nominations for the Leadership Circle and the Pastoral Search Committee, presented in this letter. These positions will be elected at a congregational meeting after church on Sunday 12/7.

Bylaws adopted

At the end of a congregational meeting on Sun. 11/23, Hope Church's Covenant Partners voted to adopt the church's first set of bylaws. The bylaws as adopted will be published on this site soon.

Hope Again

Introducing "Hope Again." It's like a yard sale without the yard; instead we have this database of stuff. Find something you want, and the price you pay goes to Hope Church. Also please add items that you are willing to contribute to the database.
